Goals were a plenty on Saturday in the Macleod and Maccallum North Caledonian league, as Alness United, Golspie Sutherland, Inverness Athletic and Orkney all picked up vital wins.
Alness United 3-1 Thuso
Alness United continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-1 win at Culbokie Park. Taylor Sutherland netted to give United a half time lead which was quickly doubled after the break by a Mikey Rae strike. Thurso were back in the match ten minutes later when Scott Bell found the back of the net, but that man Rae would again find his way to goal late on to secure all three points for the home side.

Bunillidh Thistle 0-3 Inverness Athletic
Inverness Athletic made it three league wins on the bounce with a hard-fought win against Bunillidh Thistle. Phil Macdonald started the scoring off after only two minutes but that is the way it stayed until Macdonald again found the net just after the hour mark. Ally Velzian headed in a third for the visitors to make sure the points were heading back to the Highland Capital.
Halkirk United 0-6 Golspie Sutherland
Golspie Sutherland scored six without reply against Halkirk United at a windy Morrison Park on Saturday. A Robbie Murray double along with a looping header from John Budge and cracking strike from outside the box from Graham MacNab gave the visitors a healthy half time lead. A second half double from Ben Sinclair rounded off the scoring and maintained Golspie’s perfect start to the season.

St Duthus 2-3 Orkney
Orkney came out on top in a five-goal thriller at The Links in Tain. With the first half ending in a stalemate, it was Orkney who struck first after the break through Chris Hellewell when he scored from the penalty spot. St Duthus were back in the game half way through the second half when Scott Miller headed in, but Chris Hellewell would once again get the islanders noses in front just two minutes later. St Duthus were quickly back in the contest when Jake Lockett toe poked home a leveller for Stuart Ross’s men, but It would be Orkney who took the lead again through a Liam Delday strike. St Duthus pushed for the equaliser, but a combination of cross bar and a stunning save from the Orkney keeper made sure that the points where heading back across the Pentland Firth.
